Anthemic hooks, jagged
riffs and barking mad boy-girl vocals
enthralling
KERRANG!
Dastardly, dark and divine - three words to describe
the phenomena of The Adventures of Loki. Think The Pixies,
Dead Kennedys and L7
and you are sidling close to the
Loki experience. Snarling vocals, with a coaxing female
counterpart, greasy, fuzzy guitars and bass candy thunder,
pert and perky drums and a tightness that made me too scared
to breathe. I pray I'm not the only person to recognise
brilliance when I see it... BBC Manchester
Formed in Lancaster in
2005, The Adventures Of Loki
combine furious lashings of guitar and bass, a formidable
drummer who beats her kit into submission at every opportunity
and boy/girl vocals that serenade and scream in equal parts.
Not to mention the superlative songwriting
think McLusky jamming with Kim Deal!
Advocating a kick-em-in-the-teeth-and-run approach
to the live set, the band always has their audiences calling
for more not least at their performances at last
years Carling Reading and Leeds Festivals, and at
the northern version of SxSW NxNE, in Toronto
where they were awarded the prestigious Best International
Newcomer award after their set at the magnificently-named
Bovine Sex Club!
Feminine Side has already picked up plays from Huw Stevens
at Radio 1 and XFMs Ian Camfield, and the video will
be showing on MTV2 as of next week
