“Few bands would have the balls or the self-awareness to pull this off with such joyful, unpretentious abandon…hugely enjoyable, there’s nothing else out there quite like this” – Metal Hammer
“All smashingly played, in particular the lightning guitar work…” – KERRANG!
“Could they be the new Dragonforce…?” – Bruce Dickinson, 6 Music
“Like the resurrected ghosts of Van Halen, but fresher sounding…full-on, balls-out dramatic heavy metal. And it RULES.”” – Artrocker
THE MORNING AFTER consists of four young guys with an incessant passion for over-the-top 80s metal… Throwbacks? Think again. And fast.
THE MORNING AFTER surprised and delighted many with the release of their debut album in 2009, You Cant Hurt Steel - ten tracks blending classic British metal, American 80’s hair metal and contemporary heavy music that are a treat to the ears, and with huge support from Total Rock Radio and KERRANG! Radio, the band’s message was spread, eventually leading them to be signed in Japan, and the album going top ten there!
Avoiding clichéd song subjects, the band actually thrive on sci-fi and Apocalyptic fiction, and have a patent love for creating horror lyricism… “We don’t write about love, or the trials and tribulations of life,” explains frontman Sam, “because it’s been done to death! We mix things up with the music and write around totally fictional ideas – stories that really play on your imagination. We want people to hear our songs and be able to visualize the story we are telling.”
What makes this young band so exiting is that they’ve managed to combine the bext examples of today’s metal with the great British metal of two decades ago: hot dual guitar solos, beatdowns that could take your head clean off, and epic bridges…
Sounds over the top? THE MORNING AFTER are a band that have no intention of being anything OTHER than over the top! The fact is, hair metal never sounded so good…and The Morning After will take it to a WHOLE new level.
The band have toured relentlessly – including playing Download, and singer Sam joining Steel Panther on stage for vocal duties at the Metal Hammer Awards party – and are chomping at the bit to get back out on the road now they’ve completed the recording of their brand new album, LEGACY…
THE MORNING AFTER’s new album, LEGACY, is released on JUNE 6th on Rising Records, distributed by Plastic Head
